Bored-again Teenagers Timeless truths for today's youths - Presenting Christianity to the next generation Sticky plasters for the soul Presentation ADAM: Well Brian, of course if I could turn the clock back I wouldn't have listened to the wife, would I? Do you think I enjoy schlepping away here in the fields and, anyway, remember Woolly our pet lamb, we've just barbecued him. So tasty! Yet an apple and an orange would have done me when I was in the Garden. What is happening to us? PRESENTER: Oh dear. Looks like your life's going to have to change now, adapt to the new circumstances (to audience). In fact everyone's life was going to change. BIBLE READER: (Read Romans 5:12,14.) PRESENTER: This single act of disobedience by Adam had brought sin into the world and every man and woman in the history of the world has suffered the consequences. Separation from God. The question is now - how do we get back into God's favour? How do we bridge the gap between man and God? Let's ask a few people. CHARITY WORKER: I'm a fundraiser for a foreign relief agency. So far this year I've raised enough cash to build a nuclear reactor for a small African village. I'm also a vegetarian and buy the Big Issue. CHURCH MEMBER: I go to church most weeks and I help arrange the flowers. I enjoy it there because I can have a good gossip and a chat. Don't like the new vicar, though. His sermons are too long and he's a bit too religious for my liking. GENERAL GOOD PERSON: I'm a good person. I'm kind to my old mum, my wife and kids. I treat everyone with respect. I try hard to follow the Ten Commandments, though I don't consider myself a Christian. I live a good life and treat everyone with respect, I don't know what else I can do. PRESENTER: No sticking power! BIBLE READER: Isaiah 64:6 PRESENTER: You can be as good as you like, but it won't buy you favour with God. Think of swimming the Atlantic. Some of us can only paddle, and some of us can swim for miles and miles and miles, but it doesn't make any difference - none of us can swim well enough to get there! It's all the same to God, at the end of the day - we've all failed to get to the other side and bridge the gap! If
